The iPhone 7 is still a powerful phone with everything you need to create and edit video. On the other hand, the built-in video editing tools aren’t exactly cutting edge.
Let’s be honest, you need to edit videos on-the-go and you want the tools that’ll make your video stand out. While the built-in editing doesn’t quite measure up, Kapwing’s web-based editing studio does. That’s right, edit your video exactly how you want, for free and with no app download by following this simple process:
- Upload your video to Kapwing
- Edit your video footage
- Make your video stand out
- Publish and download
Step 1: Upload your video to Kapwing
First, open the Kapwing Studio and tap ‘Click to upload’ or copy/paste the video URL in the bottom box.
If you recorded the video on your iPhone 7, open the ‘Photo Library’ and select it from your feed. If you want to edit an existing video (i.e. Twitch Facebook Instagram or Twitter videos), paste the video URL for a quicker workflow.
Step 2: Edit your video footage
Before you edit, check the box over your video to make sure the upload reaches 100% (it disappears when finished). Now, tap ‘Edit video’ right above your video.
Kapwing provides every tool you need to do basic editing tasks like trim, adjust, crop, rotate and layer. Below, I’ll showcase the simplicity of the trim, adjust and crop tool (watch one at a time).
In short, you can edit your video by adjusting or sliding the handles when you enter the screen for each tool (pretty easy, right?).
Step 3: Make your video stand out
Now, if you really want to grab your audience’s attention, look at the toolbar at the top of the studio and slide right to explore extra features like text, images, audio, subtitles, timeline, scenes, and shapes.
For this tutorial, I’ll show you how to add text and images. To start, tap ‘Text’ at the top, tap on the box and type your message. Then, tap ‘Edit text’ right above your video to change the font, color, outline, background, line height or animation. Lastly, tap the box to move it around or adjust the corners to resize to your preference.
To add an image, tap ‘Images’ at the top and select whether you want to upload an image, search for one, pull one from an existing Kapwing project or add an emoji. Once you decide, add the image, tap to move it around or adjust the corners to resize to your preference. Sound familiar?
You can learn more about the other features in the ‘Related Articles’ section at the bottom of this page.
Step 4: Publish and download
When you feel like your video is done, tap ‘Publish’ at the top of your screen and wait for Kapwing’s kittens to process the final product!
Next, you’ll land on the download page. If you haven’t made a free Kapwing account, tap ‘Sign in to remove the watermark’ to fix that problem (wink, wink). Finally, tap ‘Download’, tap ‘Download’ on the iOS prompt and tap the arrow in the top right of your screen. Now, select your video, tap the icon in the bottom left, scroll and choose the ‘Save Video’ option.
Finally, check your Photos app and there should be a newly edited video waiting for you!
